Program areas at Central Point Parks and Recreational Foundation
Liams Trunk or Treat Project: This City of Central Point event is supported by the Central Point Parks & Recreation Foundation through funds donated specifically for this purpose. The Halloween based event was created after a local family tragically loss their child in an accident on Halloween day. In order to deal with this loss the family started a small project on each Halloween whereby people would decorate their car trunk and display them at a local park providing candy to children who would view each car trunk. The event has grown each year until it reached a point where it became too difficult for the family to manage the event. At this point the City of Central Point recreation staff offered to assist and requested funding to support from the Central Point Parks & Recreation Foundation. The foundation set up an account specifically for the purpose and has actively sought donations for the project.
My Veteran My Hero Tribute Tree Project: this program offers residents the opportunity to celebrate a veteran hero in their life through the purchase and planting of a tree. Each tree donation will include a 4 by 4 metal plaque that will be attached to a post near the tree. The plaque will provide the name of the veteran and a QR code that will link to a city webpage. This webpage will provide biographical information and a photo of the veteran provided by the family . A link to the online application and veterans biograph page are located at the bottom of the page. Application deadlines each year are as follows: Fall planting - September 15 and Spring planting - March 15. Any donated funds remaining after purchase of materials may be used to support Central Point Parks.
Central Point Cemetery Improvement Project: It is the goal of the City of Central Point to maintain the Central Point Cemetery as a quiet and restful place for the deceased and to provide their families and friends with the assurance that the facility will be taken care of in a thoughtful manner. Our objective is not to attempt to interfere with individual tastes but to enact rules and regulations that will benefit and protect all lot owners and provide for the efficient management and maintenance of the cemetery grounds.
