Program areas at Catholic Medical Mission Board

Medical donations program (mdp) is the name of cmmb's program of donated medicines and Medical supplies. In fiscal 2018, shipments valued at $598,063,118 were delivered to 88 consignees in 31 countries. Mdp has, as one its priorities, the provision of donations in support of cmmb's disease-specific programs. Those gifts of medicines and Medical supplies help increase the capacity of healthcare service providers and make them more sustainable over time. In addition, the mdp is geared to quickly and effectively provide medicines and Medical supplies when emergency relief is required.

Cmmb provided services to men, women and children in 2018. These services included hiv testing; counseling and linkages to care; safe spaces for orphaned and vulnerable children mostly with disabilities; training for community health workers and facility based health providers; renovated local health facilities and created demand for services by implementing community based outreaches included but not limited to (rally posts, home visits, health fairs, community awareness meeting); provided commodities to those in need (sanitary items, water purification products, food). Cmmb also conducted repeat home visits to pregnant women as well as children under 5 years of age for wellness checks-ups and health education. Cmmb continues to support it's economic empowerment activities via gardens, livestock and other investment opportunities.

Cmmb's volunteer program (mvp) places licensed healthcare and other international development professionals at faith-based healthcare facilities in resource-poor countries. Doctors, nurses, therapists and other healthcare professionals devote themselves to helping those in need for periods ranging from a few weeks to a few years, in direct healthcare, program development and capacity building roles. In 2017, cmmb placed 841 Medical volunteers at locations in 14 countries in africa, asia, latin america and the caribbean.
