Parish social ministries: parish social ministries serve as a resource of the jackson diocese specializing in social justice education and advocacy. The primary goal of the program is to promote Catholic social teaching, in addition to serving as a consultant to parishes to support development of parish-based ministries and faith in action teams. Parish social ministries has served a total of 494 households.
Unaccompanied refugee minor: the unaccompanied refugee minor program places unaccompanied refugee minors in a therapeutic foster home where they can best develop appropriate skills to enter adulthood and achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. They will receive appropriate culturally sensitive care and services that are consistent with the federal and state child welfare laws. Unaccompanied refugee minors are individuals who enter the country before they turn 18 years of age without a parent or guardian. 41 youth were served.continued form 990 page 2:
Shelter for battered families: ministries have served a total of 494 households. The domestic violence center in jackson provides safe refuge for the victims of family violence. The program provides emergency shelter, daycare, and counseling. The rape crisis center (rcc) in jackson assists victims of sexual assault as well as family members and friends. A 24 hour crisis line is provided as well as mental health intervention, crisis intervention, long term counseling, police/court escorts, community awareness and emergency shelter. 568 individuals were saved in the rcc program. Shelter for battered families served 56 families. There were 1646 referrals, 218 crisis calls and 231 workshop participants.
