Program areas at Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia
The Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia convenes groups throughout the state to address the goals and objectives of the Virginia Cancer plan including prevention; early detection; treatment and Cancer directed therapy; survivorship and palliative care; and pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers. The plan is based on an evaluation of Cancer incidence, mortality, and burden in Virginia including the disparate impact Cancer has on Virginia's low-income, uninsured, and minority populations.
The Coalition distributes funds for community-based implementation projects as related to the Virginia Cancer plan goals.
The Coalition provides educational programming on Cancer control and prevention to healthcare professionals, social workers, navigators, community advocates, patients and caregivers throughout the state.
The Coalition develops and distributes educational materials related to Cancer prevention as well as the importance of routine Cancer screening and early detection to help reduce the burden of Cancer in Virginia.
