Program areas at California Preservation Foundation
Education - All education programs were presented online, except for our newest program Doors Open California. We continue to see increased program attendance across a range of platforms YouTube 24,000, direct registrations 3307, Facebook video 1912, and LinkedIn 8492. We held a total of 28 free programs, 4 paid seminar series covering multiple days.Our reach extended to 49 states plus a growing international audience. We added a new program, CPFs Book Club, featuring authors of books on various aspects of historic preservation. The 46th Annual California Preservation Conference was held online, with a new addition of Doors Open California, a weekend of curated on-site tours across California. A total of 39 sites were open to attendees of Doors Open California, over a 2-day period, June 11 12, 2022. Over 425 peopleattended the conference and the inaugural Doors Open tour.The California Preservation Awards were held online due to COVID restrictions. Twenty winning projects were selected from a 40 submittals. A 3-part webinar series preceded the awards presentation.
Research - The California Preservation Foundations Underrepresented Communities Grant is complete for release in the next fiscal year. CPF is working with colleges and universities in Southern California to enlist students to participate in this new program.
Advocacy - We continued our work to monitor bills that impact historic resources across California. We met with legislative staff and state agency staff to usher the implementation of the new California Historic Tax Credit. We held webinars on the components and features of the California Historic Tax Credit and other high-profile state and federal initiatives affecting tax credits and increased funding for the federal Historic Preservation Fund which supports implementation of federal programs within stateand tribal historic preservation offices. Part of our outreach through education included a two-part webinar on economic incentives for historic preservation targeting the five county region supported by the McConnell Foundation in northern California.
