Program areas at California Black Media
To address and mitigate hate incidents and crimes within the appi (asian pacific and pacific islander) community and other ethnic Media communities, California Black Media (cbm) played a crucial role in facilitating the re-granting process and distributing funds to publications within its network. The primary focus is to empower local african-american Media outlets to report on hate crimes and propose solutions within their respective communities. Additionally, the grant aims to spotlight the efforts of community-based organizations working on projects dedicated to enhancing community safety.
To support efforts to build the infrastructure of black-owned Media outlets to write and cover stories on health and racial equity in California.
To support a journalism project that will report on California's mental health crisis and how its impacting Black californians, and explore proposed policy solutions and the implications for California's Black communities.
Various campaigns were carried throughout the year to facilitate communication between Black californians, policymakers, the Black press, and community-based organizations, creating a communication loop that ensures african americans are informed, engaged, and participating in the process that strenthen and define our democracy.
