Program areas at Brown Hillel Foundation
Holidays & religious life - Hillel serves as a nexus for Brown and Risd students' relationship with the larger jewish community. As a religious home, a community gathering place, and a bridge between providence and the state of israel, Hillel connects jewish students to each other, as well as jews and jewish stories from around the world. Hillel is a pluralistic environment that welcomes and provides support for all; a place to celebrate shabbat, engage in jewish learning, and observe all the jewish holidays.
Engagements & tzedek - engagement and tzedek/social justice provide a venue in which students can integrate jewish values and actively pursuing the repair of the world. Through engagement and tzedek students can participate in community service, activism, education and develop partnerships with campus and neighborhood agencies. In addition to groups dedicated to specific issues, engagement and tzedek offer general programming where students can continue to explore the connections between judaism and social justice.
Israel programming - israel programming represents a wide range of perspectives; supports the continued existence of the state of israel; and is committed to fostering informed dialogue about israel on campus and to providing programming that encompasses perspectives as broad as those of the members of our diverse community.
Arts & culture - arts and culture programming provides a unique way for students to express themselves and their jewish identity. It fosters and supports several different artistic groups, and is always open to talking with students to create a new initiative.
