Program areas at Bric Arts Media Bklyn
Bric is the new york emmy award-winning public access television organization for brooklyn. We grow opportunity for brooklyn-based Media makers through low-cost Media classes, free access to Media production facilities and equipment, and distribution on our multi-channel cable network. In fy20, we supported over 2,000 Media makers in the creation and distribution of over 50,000 hours of content across 6 channels. We offered over 500 classes to 5,000 attendees at Bric, brooklyn public library branches, and online. In response to covid-19, we supported non-profits in digital content creation and distribution, and broadcast nyc doe educational content on our channels.
Bric contemporary art and youth education programs include exhibitions, public programs, developmental residencies and commissions, and an innovative k-12 Arts education program developed with school and community-based partners. In fy20, we had over 6,000 visitors to our contemporary art gallery and over 4,000 students participated in our education program at a total of 46 sites throughout the borough. In response to covid-19 both art and education programs shifted to deliver programming online. From march to june, we offered over 35 online programs for hundreds of art enthusiasts and families and supported school partners in the delivery of digital education content.
Bric performing Arts programs include presentation of music, dance, theater and film, and support for the development of new work. In fy20, the flagship Bric celebrate brooklyn festival presented a summer-long season of free performances to audiences of 166,000 in prospect park. We also drew over 4,000 attendees to our music, danceand theater performances at Bric house. In response to covid-19, performing Arts programs shifted to digital offerings under the heading of Bric x home, including over 50 online programs that employed dozens of performing artists and engaged thousands of audience members.
