Program areas at Boston Collegiate Charter School Foundation
The Boston Collegiate Charter School Foundation (the Foundation) supports Boston Collegiate Charter School by providing philanthropic dollars, facilities, and leadership. In fy24, philanthropic funds from the Foundation provided both restricted and unrestricted budget offset to the School for activities outside of the School's core academic program. Examples of initiatives funded by philanthropy in fy24 include, but are not limited to: alumni support; college and career exposure; social emotional learning interventions; diversity, equity, and inclusion training; expanded athletics offerings and the School's students in need program, which provides basic needs--such as winter coats, uniforms, and School supplies -- to students and families who are struggling financially.the Boston Collegiate Charter School Foundation supports the School's overall mission of preparing each of its 700 students for college. With support from the Foundation, Boston Collegiate is proud of the following accomplishments achieved in fy24:- for the twenty-first consecutive year, 100% of Boston Collegiate's diploma-earning graduates earned acceptance to four-year colleges;- members of Boston Collegiate's class of 2024 are matriculating at post-secondary institutions that include harvard university, Massachusetts college of pharmacy and health sciences, Massachusetts maritime academy, northeastern university, syracuse university, umass Boston, dartmouth, and lowell, and wentworth institute oftechnology;- Boston Collegiate continued to expand the implementation of project-based learning (pbl), which encourages student-led inquiry and engagement with real-world challenges;- to help students develop professional skills, practice networking, and sample career fields that interest them, Boston Collegiate ran a two-week off-site internship program for juniors in may. Internship sites included organizations such as anawan studios, Boston medical center, cabot corporation, ellis early learning, nbcuniversal, seven hills pasta, and a range of other nonprofits and local businesses;- the Boston Collegiate hurricanes girls' soccer varsity soccer team placed second in the Massachusetts Charter School athletic organization (mcsao) championship and the middle School girls' basketball team made the mcsao playoffs; our boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball, and cross country teams had sufficiently winning records to qualify for the first round of the Massachusetts interscholastic athletic association (mim) playoffs; and we launched a cooperative varsity football program with cathedral high School.
