Boston Center for Independent Living is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has provided services to people with disabilities since 1974, when it became the second independent living center in the country.
Program areas at BCIL
Adult services - provides Independent Living skills building and peer mentoring to disabled individuals in order to give the individuals skills for application in community Living and to establish Independent lifestyles for them.
Adrc - the Boston aging disability resource consortium is a collaboration between bcil and three aging service access point programs and the Boston age strong commission to provide coordinated services to elders and people with disabilities. Our primary effort is to provide options counseling to people in or at risk of going in a nursing home so they can live in the community. Bcil coordinates services for the adrc.
Personal care attendant services - to act as the programmatic conduit between government agencies, health plans, and consumers requiring attendants to provide physical assistance with activities of daily Living and homemaking tasks.
