the Bosma rehabilitation (br) program offers comprehensive vision rehabilitation services to meet the needs of adults who are Blind or visually impaired. Participants work with professional staff to create a teaching plan that is customized to meet their individual goals. All training takes place at the rehabilitation center in indianapolis, Indiana, over a period of approximately 4 months. the areas of instruction include, but are not limited to, daily living skills, assistive technology, counseling, educational services, functional vision and lighting assessments, keyboarding, manual skills, and orientation and mobility. See schedule o for continuation: continued from page 2, line 4b: the itinerant rehabilitation teaching (irt) program is designed to meet the individual rehabilitation needs of clients throughout Indiana by providing comprehensive vision rehabilitation services for people struggling to adjust to vision loss. These services are community-based wherein trained instructors travel to the client's home to provide instruction on adaptive technologies and basic modifications to allow these individuals to retain their independence. One of the growing irt programs provides additional services for people over the age of 55. A focus group provides instruction and classes related to dealing with vision loss in a group setting at public locations such as libraries and senior centers. It also includes adjustment counseling aimed at dealing with the emotional impact of vision loss. In addition, the program also assesses other barriers to independent living and short-term wrap-around services designed to help the individual remain in the home. the employment services (es) program prepares individuals who are legally Blind or visually impaired for employment. It completes assessment of their interpersonal and work-related skills, educates them about the corporate and workplace culture, and helps to identify their career goals. the es program assists the individual to find and maintain employment by providing instruction in job-search techniques, interview skills, networking techniques, worksite assessments, identifying necessary job accommodations, on-site job coaching, and referral for other support services required in the workplace and community. the employment specialists provide consultation to employers in the coordination of necessary job modifications and address their concerns in hiring people who are Blind or visually impaired.
