Boise Vertical Farm is a 2nd chance employer for people in recovery from drugs and alcohol. Bvf works with the local court systems to help people complete community service hours as part of their sentencing. Our employees are given a chance to move from community service hours to full time employment. The mission of Boise Vertical Farm is to create a safe community that provides hope and employment for individuals in substance abuse.

Program areas at Boise Vertical Farm

Boise Vertical Farm provided an estimated 300 hrs of employment/supervision/job skills training in 2021 to volunteers in recovery from drugs and alcohol. 90% of hours went to people sentenced to community service hours by the ada county court system.bvf provided the location, equipment, supplies and skills for the program. The program was started mid-year 2021. We had 10 people sign-up for our community service farming program in 2021. 3 people completed the program. 5 are continuing in the program. We lost 2 participants during the year. Reasons for noncompletion included personal conflicts and relapse.we have 2 graduates returning to the program in 2022 to complete special projects or to volunteer their time to help others. Expenses are attributed directly to farming and growing functions. Revenue is from direct sale of produce products and donations.
