Bluegrass Greensource is THE source for all things green in central Kentucky, encouraging small steps toward a sustainable future for our communities. Formerly known as Bluegrass PRIDE, Bluegrass Greensource is a non-profit organization that provides education and resources on how we affect our environment. Since 2001, we have provided outreach to schools, community groups, businesses, local governments, and citizens throughout Central Kentucky. Bluegrass Greensource encourages people to make small changes in their daily lives that can have a big impact on our local environment.

Program areas at Bluegrass Greensource

Provides education resources to more than 300 schools and non-formal educators througout our 20-county service area. This year our education staff taught approximately 1,200 classes and had more than 24,344 student contacts. These included the following successes: Waste Reduction: *Recycling/Composting activities reached 2,387 students*Activities with 250 students at 2 community events*Recycling Forum for 9 people*Recycling displays in two public libraries. Water Quality/Conservation: *Water activities for 13,284 students *Karst activities with 4 students*Household Hazardous Waste events in Lincoln and Garrard County for 1,295 participants ****CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O****
31 septic repairs/installs were completed, 3 septic care workshops were held in Nicholas, Montgomery and Bath counties. GreenFest: GreenFest: Hosted the fifth annual event which included 26 sustainable living workshops, 20 vendors, kids activities and paper shredding and recycling, , as well as local food to more than 100 people. Water Quality/Stormwater Workshops: Conducted 2 rain barrel workshops for total of 38 participants*Hosted 2 rain garden workshops for a total of 40 participants. ****CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O****
Provides resources and education to community groups and residents in Central Kentucky with programs that focus on energy efficiency, water quality and solid waste issues. This year our outreach staff reached more than 17,000 residents and included the following successes: Hinkston Creek, Clarks Run and Hanging Fork Watershed Improvement Program: held stakeholder meetings in November For both Hinkston and Dix River watersheds to promote the implementation of our new water quality mini grants. Eight community-led projects were approved to be funded for completion next fiscal year. Four riparian buffer projects were completed after approval in the prior fiscal year. ****CONTINUED BELOW****
