Program areas at Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation
During the 2021-22 academic year, the Foundation provided 129 scholarship awards totaling $448,805 to 412 students. The majority of these awards were based on financial need. While a degree at Blue Ridge Community College appears affordable, especially compared to four-year institutions, it is beyond the means of many students and families in our Community. Scholarships were provided to students in both credit and non-credit programs. Included in the total were scholarships provided to participants in Blue Ridge promise, a bridge program for high school seniors interested in attending brcc after graduation which includes a one-credit student development (sdv) class to encourage follow-through on their College goals. Awards were also made through the career pathways program for high school students taking career and technical education classes through concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment. All of these scholarship awards give students the opportunity to achieve their career and life goals and improve the quality of life of their families and the communities in which they live and work.
The Foundation purchased equipment totaling $105,617 to benefit brcc's automotive analysis and repair, aviation maintenance technology, engineering technology, manufacturing technology, and nursing programs.
The Foundation provided $309,587 in wage reimbursements to the College in support of aviation maintenance technology, emergency medical services, high school career coaching, nursing, and healthcare-related workforce certificate programs.
