Cbj runs a local newsroom which provides on-the-job training to early career reporters while covering stories that are important to ethnically diverse communities. Cbj trained two reporters in the newsroom, and oversaw the publication of approximately 175 stories.
Cbj launched its adult education program, offering evening classes in skills related to Journalism (news writing, interviewing skills, audio recording, and visual storytelling). Cbj offered four classes in the fall of 2023, serving 25 students.
Cbj acquired the fcc license for a low power fm radio station in st. paul's east side (weqy power104.7fm), built out a new, state of the art studio, and relaunched the station under a new brand in september 2023. It created local programming, Broadcast radio stories reported by the newsroom, and provided free/low-cost opportunities for local businesses to advertise their services. The radio station serves an area with a population of approximately 30,000.
