Program areas at Battered Women's Shelter

Crisis intervention - emergency Shelter. The program purpose is to help support and aid survivors of domestic/intimate partner violence and human trafficking by providing immediate crisis and long-term support services including: 24/7 crisis hotline, trauma therapy, hospital accompaniment, emergency Shelter, housing advocacy, youth support and more. In 2023, bws provided 3,035 hotline calls and crisis line chats, 31,408 safe nights of Shelter, 559 survivors received hospital advocacy, and 344 individuals housed. Legal advocacy. The program purpose is to assist survivors of intimate partner violence with filing protection orders, referrals for legal representation, advocacy during criminal cases, and assistance in navigating the justice system to address criminal and civil issues, such as the abusers' criminal cases, child custody, divorce, and other legal issues. In 2023, 894 survivors received court advocacy services.
