Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley

Artistic programming for 2013-2014 fiscal year began with a gala held in november to celebrate the newly appointed artistic director, jose manuel carreno. Performers from new york city ballet, american ballet theater, boston ballet and san francisco ballet danced in honor of their friend, jose carreno. The season began with nutcracker in december - 13 shows were held at the center for performing arts in san jose. The repertory season had three programs, neoclassical to now, which featured works by balanchine, elo and naharin. The second program, popular music transcendent dancing featured local premiers by perry, rhoden, nebrada and taylor. The third and final program featured carmen and in the upper room. Carmen saw a return to the stage by jose carreno and in the upper room finished off the program to standing ovations.

Grant to american ballet theater for program support.

Training - established in 1966, ballet san jose school is the official school of the ballet san jose company. The school is an american ballet theater certified school and teaches that curriculum to its 400 plus students. Students were also given the opportunity to perform with the company in the nutcracker. The school is lead by director dalia rawson and the teachers are part of the ballet san jose artistic staff and current and former ballet san jose company members. Classes are held for ages 3 thru adult and provides year round classes from primary to pre-professional. There is also a trainee program, which gives students the opportunity to train with the company.
