Program areas at Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center

Fitness & wellness: six days a week we offer our over 1200 members opportunities to improve their balances, agility and general well being through a variety of wellness activities. We offer classes led by certified instructors and volumteer-organized activities to engage seniors in healthy activity. From daily aerobic and stretching exercises to weekly tai chi practice and chair yoga sessions and including certified s.a.i.l. Balance training, we offer structured opportunities for people to avoid the risk of falls and safely inprove overall fitness. We also have several group activities - including table tennis, petanque, bicycle trips, line dancing and walks - that encourage people to remain physically active. Each week, our members can choose from over 25 hours of programming focused physical activity. In 2018 over 400 members and over 300 guests took part in one or more of these activities.
Culture: we offer our 1200 memners cultural programs including evergreen singers, photography, writing, foreign languages, laughter groups, book discussions and theatre.
Trips and excursions: Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center supports and plans trips and excursions and often operates the Senior Center bus to provide members with compfortable, safe and affordable travel to nearby attractions (for example, mount st helens, snoqualmie falls, mount rainier, skagit valley tulip festival, sequim lavender festival, scottish highland games, ed hume gardens). We also sponsor trips across puget sound using public transit (for example, amazon spheres, seattle mainers baseball games, seattle aquarium, bloedel reserve). In 2018 275 individuals took part in one or more of the 29 trips we offered.
