Program areas at Aurora Public Schools Education Foundation
College & career centers: through fye 6/30/22, the Foundation continued to support college and career centers in the Aurora Public Schools district. During the 2021-2022 school year, the final college and career centers were opened, total 7 centers and ensuring that 100% of all aps high school students have access to college and career readiness resources at their neighborhood school. Since inception in 2014, more than 139 million in scholarships have been secured by graduating seniors.
Food and crisis relief: in response to the covid-19 pandemic, the Foundation launched a food and crisis relief fund. Through fye 6/30/22, more than 8 million meals were served to the students and community members. Approximately 10% of the meals were for adults and fully funded through the aps Foundation. All food and crisis relief fund were expended by the fye 6/30/22.
Special projects: the Foundation serves as a conduit for a variety of special projects that support the Aurora Public Schools district, including community action zones, individual school projects and programs and other district initiatives. Programmatic activity for the fye 6/30/22 included continuation of a capital campaign for the construction of a new stem charter school, Aurora science and tech, enrichment funding for specific Schools, stem funding for various high school programs, and the operation of the educators' emporium, providing free supplemental supplies to classroom teachers.
The foudnation manages a scholarship program that supports post-secondary Education expenses for graduates of the Aurora Public Schools district. Through the fiscal year ending 6/30/22, scholarships were awarded to 184 high school seniors.
