Protection of open space and wildlife habitat - the Attleboro Land Trust (alt) owns and manages 15 conservation properties totaling 492 acres and holds conservation restrictions on an additional 200 acres of conservation Land. By protecting the conservation values of this Land, the alt provides many public benefits, including preservation of endangered species, protection of air and water quality, and flood control. Many of these properties have marked, mapped trails developed by the alt. Many volunteer hours are spent annually monitoring, maintaining, and improving these properties.
Hike Attleboro - the nature trails provided by the alt for public use provide intrinsic educational benefits to the public as "outdoor classrooms" where nature can be observed firsthand, as well as the health benefits of outdoor recreation. The alt has partnered with the city of Attleboro and mass audubon to encourage the public to visit these conservation areas and to take advantage of the benefits of being outdoors, getting some exercise, and experiencing nature with new hike Attleboro signs directing residents and vistors to nature preserves and walking trails. The alt regularly hosts guided hikes of nature preserves as part of this intiative.
Community garden - the alt has managed the Attleboro area community garden, a joint venture with the city of Attleboro, since 1998. The garden's 62 garden plots, 8 with enhanced accessibility, are made available to local residents from all walks of life who join together in the community activity of gardening using organic methods. In 2023, these plots were fully subscribed.
