Sunnyside Community Hospital Association (the Association) is comprised of a 25-bed critical access Hospital and a series of eight rural health clinics, a family birth center, complete surgical services, laboratory, 4-d obstetrical ultrasound, digital mammography, cardiopulmonary services, registered dietician and diabetes educator services. The Association provided 1,338 Hospital admissions, 63,912 outpatient visits, 15,437 emergency room visits, and 235 births during the year. The Association provides care to persons covered by governmental programs at or below cost and to individuals who are unable to pay. The unreimbursed value of providing care to these patients was $176,847,044 for charity care, medicare, medicaid and other third party payors for the year.
