Program areas at Assistance League of the Pomona Valley
The Dental Center provides free routine and emergency dental care for children, adults and seniors from low income families who cannot otherwise afford proper dental care. Over 150 students adults and seniors are treated each year with an average of over 1,200 treatments through multiple appointments. Services provided include preventative dental care, education, fluoride treatments, fillings, extractions, root canals and crowns. Children, adults and seniors are referred for care from school systems and other community organizations in the Pomona Valley Communities, from flyers,and the Dental Center website. The Dental Center includes two fully equipped treatment rooms and is staffed with a bilingual dentist, dental assistant and an office manager/receptionist.
Other programs includes Assault Survivor Kits (ASK).ASK provides toiletries, new basic clothing, and other needed items to victims of assault and trauma.
Operation School Bell provides, at no cost, new school clothing, hygiene and household items and books to over 1,200 students annually from low income families. These students are referred by local school systems and other community organizations in the Pomona Valley Communities. We provide multiple quality contemporary school outfits which allow the children to maintain self-esteem and to improve attendance and performance in school.This program also includes the Act of Giving which adopts over 30 of our most needy families at Christmas time who are referred by the Family Resource Center in Pomona Unified School District.
