Program areas at Assistance League of Colorado Springs

Operation school bell is Assistance League of Colorado Springs largest philantrophic program. Schools in el paso county educating students who live in lower economic communities are provided with coats, hoodies, sweatshirts and pants, socks, underwear, along with shoe gift cards. Counselors/liasons are then able to distribute, as needed, these items to their students throughout the school year when the need arises. We estimate 2500 students were served for the 2021-2022 academic year, at 82 schools in el paso county. A school staff member can also contact this program when a child is in need of emergency clothing. A committee member will meet the family and purchase the clothing that is needed.
Assault survivor kits (ask. This program, in cooperation with memorial hospitals sexual assault crisis center and sexual assault nurse examiner (sane), provides clothing and hygiene kits to sexual assault victims who are required to leave their clothing as police evidence. During the past year, 2486 victims of assault were given new clothing. These clothes included winter seat shirts, sweat pants, summer capris and tops along with bras, underwear,socks and other clothing. Assistance League is the only organization that offers this help in the Colorado Springs area.
Sweet dreams. A program that provides mattress/box spring sets to emancipated children leaving foster care. Mattress.box spring sets are supplied to selected agencies for distribution. Also included with the beds are sheets, pillow cases and towels. These items are given ti the young people who reach the age of 18 and can no longer remain in foster care. Some of these youngsters have never had a bed of their own. Beds are also given to formerly homeless youth, who are referred by the place. The place is an agency that offers services and shelter to homeless youth, 15-21.
