Program areas at Asian American Psychological Association
Journal - The Asian American Journal of Psychology is the official publication of the Asian American Psychological Association and is dedicated to research, practice, advocacy, education, and policy within Asian American psychology. The Journal publishes empirical, theoretical, methodological, and practice oriented articles and book reviews covering topics relevant to Asian American individuals and communities, including prevention, intervention, training, and social justice. The Journal is published quarterly. AAJP saw increases in subscriptions for both individual and institutional subscriptions in 2023. There was a significant increase in individual subscriptions across APA members, AAPA members, and nonmember subscriptions.
EDC Retreat - AAPA holds an annual retreat for the Executive Committee to meet and discuss the projects for the year ahead. Usually takes place at the beginning of each year. All EC members are invited. Location changes every year. There was a significant increase in individual subscriptions across APA members, AAPA members, and nonmember subscriptions.
Division Programming - The AAPA currently has 9 Divisions. Divisions of the Asian American Psychological Association focus on specific interests of our members and are always open to all members. Each division uses organizational funding to offer events, community building activities, services and awards.
Website - One of the newest initiatives was creating a directory for Asian American mental health providers. The aim of the directory is to connect Asians and Asian Americans to culturally aware providers who are prepared to meet their needs.
