Program areas at Arcade Historical Society
The Society owns a 1903 queen anne home that houses its artifacts and is the site of visits by elementary school students. Ongoing expenses include utilities mowing plowing cleaning and supplies.
The Society's operations manager and volunteers maintain and preserve an extensive collection of documents photographs and artifacts. The Society also provides financial support for the restoration of a 1920 steam locomotive.
The Society's operations manager prepares Historical exhibits and programs for the general public and for elementary school classes. She also maintains the Society's website and and facebook page and creates the Society's newsletters.
Members can select from one of several annual dues levels ranging from $10 to $100.
The cash sweep amounts in the Society's two investment accounts at trubee collins & co. generate a small amount of interest.

The income for the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the village of Arcade and the Arcade fire department came from two donations totaling $2,030; the Society spent $2,198 not counting the payments to our paid operations manager for her time. The income for the 50th anniversary of the Arcade winterfest came from two donations totaling $1,000. The expenses were $474 not counting the salary of our operations manager for her time spent preparing for the event.
Most of the Society's sales are derived from a book published in 2007 for the town of Arcade bicentennial as well as several other local history books and other related items in our inventory.
The Society received donations earmarked for the restoration of a 1920 steam locomotive which will be added to the rolling stock of the community's largest tourist attraction once the restoration is complete.
The Society conducted a 50 50 drawing in conjunction with its annual dinner meeting in october. A member receiveds half the proceeds and the Society retained the other half for its charitable purposes.
The Society charged its members $22 apiece for the annual dinner meeting which also included a speaker on a Historical topic. 36 people attended the october 2021 meeting.
The Society entered a display in the Historical building at the Wyoming county fair and received a fourth-place ribbon and a $20 prize.
