Aldlf led and supported nine state-level campaigns to prohibit the surgical removal of cat's claws. As part of the campaigns, aldlf: conducted research, including polling among 169 veterinary professionals in 11 northeastern states; built and engaged coalitions from both national and local organizations; lobbied bills and testified in favor of the legislation; and contracted with lobbyists to help advance the campaigns. Additionally, aldlf drafted a congressional resolution opposing non-therapeutic cat declawing for planned introduction in the 119th congress. Ideally, the progress made this year will position several of the bills for passage in 2025 and eventually eradicate non-therapeutic cat declaw surgeries.
