Animal Care and Control Team

As the only open intake Animal shelter and Animal Care and Control provider in philadelphia, acct philly helps thousands of people and pets in addition to non-companion animals each year. Through surrender prevention efforts, the organization works with owners to keep people and pets together and is the only facility in the city that accepts all strays and unwanted animals from within the city.

Acct philly's client base is the 1.5 million residents of philadelphia,and our community support and field services Team members are often the first to be there for residents. While Animal protection officers are out in the field, assisting citizens, police, fire and other city departments, our dispatchers and community support Team members are working to provide for the needs of the community and its animals.

A significant part of acct's programmatic work is dedicated toward finding live exits for animals through adoption, transfers to rescue partners, returns to owners and for some animals, release back into the wild. The additional support of the volunteer program and surrender prevention efforts complement this work by promoting animals in the organization's Care and keeping pets and their owners together.
