Program areas at Anderson County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Anderson co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local state and national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring, communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth leadership development/education Anderson County Farm Bureau educates youth on agriculture in several different ways in the County. The Anderson County Farm Bureau puts on a Farm day where volunteers have livestock displays and ag equipment. The displays show these elementary age children how their food and fiber are grown and how it is cared for. This also helps the children to understand the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives. The Anderson County Farm Bureau sponsors 2 students for the 4-h legislative conference yearly and also sends 2 high school seniors to searcy Arkansas annually to a youth leadership conference.
Agriculture leadership activities the Anderson County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local acricultural civic & community organizations. Leaders attend district state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications and agriculture activities.
