Program areas at AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS Virginia Section
Technical Meetings/Seminars/Presentations: The Virginia section and its affiliates host numerous technical seminars and presentations throughout the year. The technical meetings are held to inform the profession about the civil engineering issue and to inspire civil engineers to continually learn and grow throughout their careers. Educational programs presented are geared to enhance engineering abilities. All member dinners are held to encourage individuals to learn more about their discipline and explore into different areas of expertise.
Continuing education programs are designed to enhance abilities of civil engineers. Technical educational sessions are geared toward advancing the engineering profession. Monthly luncheons and annual full day seminars. Newsletter and website is geared to inform general public of current issues in the civil engineering industry.
Awards & Younger Member Group Activities: The Virginia section and its affiliates are designed to enhance public awareness of the civil engineering profession through scholarship awards program. The awards program honors the achievement and increases in public awareness. Includes honor and award ceremonies, science fair, etc. "Fundraisers with gross receipts less than $5,000 generated scholarship funds."
