Government affairs: the American Hotel & Lodging Association (ahla) is committed to promoting innovative policy solutions that elevate the domestic Lodging industry and the millions of jobs it supports. Ahla's advocacy agenda includes supporting and promoting our workforce, protecting our guests and the guest experience, ensuring a level playing field with alternative accommodations platforms that impact neighborhoods and affordable housing, highlighting our industries commitment to sustainable practices and promoting travel and tourism. Ahla works in a bipartisan, bicameral manner to advocate for policies so that our industry, our employees and the communities across the country where we operate continue to thrive.
Signature conferences & events: ahla develops, manages, and operates numerous high-quality conferences and events annually, domestically and abroad, providing its membership with valuable information, research, and networking opportunities. These events generate significant revenue through registration fees and sponsorships, supporting the Association's mission. In 2023, ahla's conference and events program featured a robust calendar of programming, strong member attendance and engagement, and the successful launch of the hospitality show, a new trade show developed in partnership with questex.
Member engagement:1. Independent Hotel rooms were up 40% in membership 2. Signed an agreement with Hotel Association of canada to launch green key global certification throughout north america. 3. Member satisfaction rose to 79% in 2023 relative to 68% in 2019.
Markting and communications:the marketing and communications department's (marcomm) mission is to communicate the message of ahla and the Hotel industry to our members, staff, and the public. Our messaging targets each audience directly and is supported by data. We harness the knowledge and expertise of the entire ahla team. The marcomm department is organized into four teams: marketing, media relations, content, and internal and executive communications.
