Program areas at ACOG

Education: in order to satisfy the critical educational need of women's health professionals, the College sponsors postgraduate medical education courses during the year. In addition, the College holds a 5-day annual clinical meeting in the spring of each year. The 2017 meeting was held in Washington, dc. The meeting provides over 90 different courses, seminars and lectures; all of which is attended by over 3,000 health care practitioners. Also, the College is active in the development of new educational offerings (in live instruction, webinar, text, pamphlet or cd rom format) geared not only to the practicing physician and other women's health professionals, but also to their patients. In addition, the College supports resident education and resident programs for physicians specializing in the practice of ob/gyn.

Publications, practice and health services: the College maintains, develops, and revises up-to-date and comprehensive professional publications geared to satisfy the informational needs of both the women's health care professionals and their patients. Over 700 titles are maintained in the College's inventory and are made available to health care professionals and institutions throughout the world. Approximately 17,000 orders for publications are received, processed and shipped each year. The College produces and distributes clinical updates in women's healthcare addressing topics of current interest to the practicing physicians. Practice service expenditures promote the development, promulgation and dissemination of standards of care for women's health. The College supports many committees vital to improving women's healthcare including: gynecologic practice, obstetrical practice, ethics, patient safety, and genetics. The College also continues its liaison efforts with the American academy of pediatricians and the academy of family practitioners to ensure clinical care standards developed for the medical specialties ...

Member service programmatic expenditures: these expenditures ensure the College addresses and satisfies the many divergent needs of our membership. The expenses include: support for college-wide communication efforts to our members (i.e newsletter), a resource center which maintains extensive information on women's health issues that is available to our members and the general public, electronic dissemination of information through the membership website, and editorial functions exercised over the many patient education literature.
