Program areas at ACP

JOURNALS AND PUBLICATIONS: ACP publishes Annals of Internal Medicine twice-monthly, the top peer-reviewed internal medicine journal in the world. ACP Journal Club summarizes the most important medical articles from more than 100 journals. ACP Internist is an award-winning semi-monthly newspaper for internists, while ACP Hospitalist is written for internists in hospital practice.
MEMBERSHIP: With 159,000 members, ACP is the largest medical specialty organization and second-largest physician group in the U.S. Levels of ACP membership are Medical Student, Resident Fellow, Member, Fellow ("FACP"), Honorary Fellow, and Master ("MACP"). Fellowship recognizes physicians' personal achievements in internal medicine. ACP Masters are selected for outstanding contributions to medicine.
EDUCATION & INFORMATION: ACP provides evidence-based educational resources for physicians and offers many continuing medical education opportunities. ACP's annual scientific meeting, Internal Medicine 2020, was to be held in Los Angeles in April, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Going forward a hybrid remote meeting will take place, but it is too early to tell. Normally approximately 6,000 physicians attend this meeting. ACP's Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP), now in its 17th edition, is the top selling self-assessment curriculum among internists. MKSAP provides internists an opportunity to test their clinical knowledge and compare their results against national averages. Additionally, ACP offers board review courses; recertification courses and resources; and hosts over 100 regional educational meetings. ACP produces evidence-based clinical practice guidelines that follow a rigorous development process and are based on the highest quality scientific evidence. The guidelines cover many areas of internal medicine, including screening for cancer and other major diseases, diagnosis, treatment and medical technology. ACP helps internal medicine practices achieve quality performance in today's complex health care environment. The organization offers written guides, practice management tools, and customized advice.
