Program areas at American College Dance Association
Virtual Programming: Programs included the 2022 Screendance Festival (2 workshops and presentations over two weekends, adjudication of 82 submissions, 2 gala concerts; informal showcase); 2022 At-Large Virtual Adjudication (a pilot project with 50 recorded dances for adjudication).
National College Dance Festival Planning. Discussions and planning continued for the 2023 National Festival. In 2023, approximately 33 colleges and universities will be invited through regional conference adjudications, to perform or attend three gala performances in Long Beach, California. Performances will be open to the public. In addition to performing, Festival activities for the approximately 500 expected registrants will include classes, discussions and social events.
ACDA Regional Conferences: The ACDA National Office provided written support materials, technical research and support, and ongoing consultation for nine (9) in-person conferences hosted by colleges and universities throughout the country in Spring 2022. Over 2000 students, faculty, musicians and guest artists participated. Conferences included opportunities over a three or four-day period to perform in and view formal and informal concerts; receive feedback on choreography and performance; present and/or participate in classes, workshops, research presentations, and panel discussions; and strengthen professional connections. The number of conferences and the registration numbers were lower than pre-Pandemic levels.
