Program areas at AAO-HNS
Membership: the Academy maintains and administers information relating to its members, compiles and prepares publications drawing on these records, provides opportunities for volunteer leadership through committee involvement and answers questions for members, non-member professionals, and the public.
Communications: the Academy publishes a monthly magazine, the bulletin, and produces digital and social media communications about programs and services, specialty innovations, and governmental and socioeconomic issues affecting the specialty. Its media relations programs educate the public about the specialty and disseminate its health information. Creative services produces print, digital, and video materials.
Advocacy: the Academy advocates to the u.s. congress and state legislatures on behalf of its membership on key issues impacting the specialty, members' practices and patients. Numerous opportunities are provided for Academy members to interact with their elected officials.
Health policy: the Academy maintains visibility and credibility with national representatives regarding socioeconomic and federal regulatory issues and advocates for appropriate reimbursement and fair policies with medicare and private payers; providing members with information and guidance on reimbursement issues encountered at the state and local level.
