Program areas at Amaanah Refugee Services
School-age migrant youth too often fall between the cracks because their parents are unaware of the challenges they face away from home and parents simply arent equipped to support their children through these transaction. Teach 360 seeks to remedy this problem by offering school tutoring program that provides academic, social and emotional support for newcomers in K-12 schools.
The Women Empowerment (WE) program works with women from various backgrounds to achieve stability within the home. Through WE Amaanah provided supplemental rental assistance,ESL classes and employment assistance, food assistance, home transformations, and new baby welcomes for expecting mothers. This program seeks to help migrant women connect with available resources,attain gainful employment, and develop a strong social support system to aid in community integration.
Amaanah also supports a youth boys soccer league the Amaanah Lions, composed exclusively of immigrant and refugee youth The goal of the team is to help teens adapt to their new environment though soccer supporting them as they build friendships and integrate into a new city Our athletic program has created a community support system for these youth and their families improving their sense of social connectedness and thus their overall health and wellbeing. We are currently working toward expanding this program to the next stage which is providing mentoring, support for college admissions, and vocational training.
Amaanah works with various community partners to offer clients a holistic range of services to meet their broad range of needs.
