In 2022, the organization took steps to establish a shared equity homeownership program and received financing awards to assist in building the organization's first homeownership program. Funding awards include: $5.0 mm from the city of Alexandria, $2.5 mm from Virginia Housing, and $500,000 from the northern Virginia regional commission.

In february 2022, the organization acquired the square at 511 (formally park vue apartments). This acquisition preserved a market rate property for permanent affordability. As a result of this acquisition by the organization, all 196 units will be permanently restricted to rents not to exceed 60% of ami.

The organization acquired ellsworth apartments on september 5, 2019. The organization owns and operates this 20-unit apartment complex located in Alexandria, Virginia. The organization is the sole member and developer for ahdc ellsworth, llc.

The organization has acquired a residential unit for the purpose of providing rental Housing, at no cost, to a retired city of Alexandria police officer.

In january 2022, the organization took further steps in the Development of the glebe/mt. Vernon project in the arlandria neighborhood of Alexandria. The project received zoning and Development entitlements for 474 units of affordable Housing and approximately 40,000 sq.ft. Of community serving non-residential Development. In june 2022, the first phase of this project received a 9% lihtc tax credit award for 74 units.
