AlEXANDRIA A CAPPELLA COLLECTIVE

Music Development: Trained, educated, coached, and rehearsed a 60+ men's chorus (The Harmonizers) and a 20+ women's chorus (Metro Voices) providing sheet music recorded learning tracks and other learning materials.

Education and Outreach: In conjunction with the District of Columbia Department of Secondary Schools, organized and conducted a day-long barbershop harmony training event for over 100 high school music students from the greater Washington DC area. Over a two week period, arranged for visits to DC area schools by an international champion barbershop quartet to explain and demonstrate four part a cappella singing in the barbershop style.

Shows and Performances: In September 2023 we produced our 75th anniversary Fall Show for an audience of 470 at the Schlesinger Performing Arts Center in Alexandria. In December 2023 we produced our annual Holiday Show for an audience of 400 at the Fairlington United Methodist Church in Alexandria, featuring the Harmonizers and Metro Voices choruses, and reprised that show for an audience of 200 in Frederick, Maryland in conjunction with the holiday show produced by the Frederick MD Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In June 2024 the Harmonizers and Metro Voices choruses performed jointly for an audience of 1000 at the Wolf Trap Park Center for the Performing Art's production of Joyfully Together featuring choral groups from the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. In June 2024, a VLQ (Very Large Quartet) ensemble from the Harmonizers performed for an audience of 100 at Alexandria's Canal Center for ACT for Alexandria's 20th anniversary celebration. In July the Harmonizers and Metro Voices performed for an audience of 125 at Franconia District Park in Fairfax VA for the Franconia Nights Summer Concert Series.
