Program areas at Aia Miami
In 2023, Aia Miami held over 170 classes, educational programs, committee meetings, workshops, lectures and seminars for Architects, engineers, developers, students and the general public, with a focus on providing serviceto the architect members of Aia Miami. Classes include over 50 classes that fulfill registered Architects' continuing education credits and professional development programming throughout the year. Programming for specificgroups includes collaboration with noma, iida, and the Miami center for architecture and design on topics such as dei, jedi, leadership, resiliency, and more. The emerging professionals group presented classes, seminars on professional development, business skills, public speaking and more. The women in architecture committee raised funds for scholarships. Outreach into the community includes our bam (black Architects in the making) and our aim summer camp program. The camp is held at the university of Miami annually and served students from ages 8 to 16. A part the mission is to present architecture as a profession to all areas of our community, and with bam and aim, and the work done with the design and architecture senior high school, Aia Miami serves not only students enrolled in university architecture programs, but they also serve students in all areas of the community from eight years of age through new college graduates.
