Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists serves as an active affiliation to 70 academic and community training centers that train pathology residents in clinical pathology. Its mission has been to promote education, research, and clinical excellence in laboratory medicine since its founding in 1966. During the year ending September 30, 2022, the Academy provided services to around 370 active members and 140 associate members. Moreover, close to 200 individuals attended the ACLPS annual meeting "Lab Medicine" held on June 23-25 in Seattle, Washington.

Program areas at Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists

During the year that ended september 30, 2022, the Academy provided services to approximately 370 active members and 140 associate members. Close to 200 individuals attended the aclps annual meeting ("lab medicine") in seattle, Washington on june 23rd-25th, 2022. The meeting and hosted by the university of Washington department of Laboratory medicine and pathology. Over the three days, conference attendees enjoyed scientific sessions, the award lectures from the cotlove and benson awardees, presentations from the young investigator award winners and the strandjord grant awardees, and a poster session. The registration for this meeting was 100 for active members and 50 for associate members. The cotlove award was presented to dr. charles murry, who updated the audience on progress with using stem cells to regenerate damaged cardiac tissue. The benson award was presented to dr. melanie yarbrough, who presented on the topic of challenging dogmas in Clinical microbiology. Dr. neal lindeman received the evans award. The Academy also continued the paul e. strandjord young investigator grant program this year and provided three 7,500 research grants to program awardees in 2022. Grant submissions were also managed through the ex ordo online system to facilitate program administration. In addition, as a member of the rise first Clinical pathology section, aclps education committee vetted approximately 70 questions for the Clinical pathology portion of the exam. Aclps continued to support co-sponsored educational sessions at the ascp annual meeting. The annual ascp conference was held in chicago on september 7-9. 2022. The speaker was matthew krasowski, m.d, phd and he gave a talk on informatics challenges with providing inclusive care for the lgbtq patient population. The talk had a sizable turnout for the session with great audience participation. Aclps continues to provide educational review articles for publication in the american journal of Clinical pathology (ajcp).
