Program areas at Academy for Autism
As part of its mission to enable children with Autism to reach their fullest potential, the Academy for Autism operates a day school which serves ages 5 through 21. The Academy for Autism served approximately 48 students during the school year, providing specialized and individualized instruction with a 4 to 1 student to staff ratio. The school uses a multi-disciplinary approach, including aba(applied behavior analysis), coordination with therapy services and the teach(treatment and education of autistic related communication-handicapped children) program.
As part of its mission to enable children with Autism to reach their fullest potential, the Academy for Autism therapy clinic served approximately 50 pediatric special needs clients, the majority of whom were former, or are current or future students at the Academy, providing the opportunity for therapy and classroom goals to be integrated and reinforced. The clinic provides physical, speech and occupational therapy, including assistance with fine and gross motor skills, bilateral integration, motor planning, visual motor integration, speech/language development, imitation skills, listening skills, cognition, oral-motor skills, self-help skills, functional living skills and social/play skills.
