Program areas at AWP
Client outreach-a Woman's Place (awp) offers services to victims of domestic violence and their children providing them the opportunity to empower themselves, heal and lead safe, healthy lives. These services include crisis intervention, safety planning, emergency housing, legal representation, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, children's programming, counseling and therapy services. From 7/1/2021 - 6/30/2022 the awp professional team responded to 2,202 domestic violence victims or clients, answered 4,422 hotline calls, provided 1,300 clients with crisis intervention and safety planning at the time of incident, delivered 11,026 hours of individual and group counseling and therapy services. Awp afforded legal representation to 452 clients, supplied advocacy or emergency justice assistance for 2,836 cases, including 1,374 clients who received civil, legal, criminal, assistance and accompaniment with civil and criminal proceedings.
Community outreach-awp's education and training team offers community-based programs that provide ongoing domestic violence awareness and prevention education while engaging the community in efforts to end this issue. From 7/1/2021 -6/30/2022 the awp professionals provided 5,864 students with educational programming from grades 4-12 on conflict resolution, healthy friendships and relationships, boundary setting and teen dating violence. During the same period, awp provided 258 adults with education about domestic violence. In addition, this team trained 796 individuals including staff and volunteers in crisis intervention services related to domestic violence. Awp also hosted 156 volunteers for 14,733 hours of service to the organization.
Housing services-a Woman's Place (awp) has A full service 24/7 safe house shelter in A confidential and secure location that provides A safe and nurturing environment plus food and clothing provisions. Shelter residents can receive counseling, support and advocacy services and finance, housing, employment, education and legal assistance. From 7/1/2021-6/30/2022, 52 adults and 50 children were provided emergency shelter in the safe house, for A total of 8,871 bed nights. Awp also operates A rapid rehousing program, providing victims the opportunity to locate an apartment that will then be subsidized through the program for up to 1 year. This program allows shelter residents to relocate more quickly, providing additional space in the safe house and discouraging survivors from returning to their abuser because of financial constraints. During their time in the apartment, awp provides case management, education on financial empowerment, budgeting and connection to other community resources. In 2021-2022, awp provided 21 domestic violence survivors with housing through this program.
