Student programs - in fy24, 826dc served 2,000 students through its literacy-focused program, each designated to cultivate writing skills and provide publication opportunities for dc students. Our core programs include the young authors' book project, field trips, in-school programs, after-school writing lab, workshops, and reading all stars. In addition to developing and executing original curricula, 826dc published student work, including the anthology "when duty calls".
Public programs - a small component of 826dc's work is our public literary programming including our book release and student showcase events. 826dc staff uses this and other public-facing event as an opportunity to recruit new program volunteers, share our students' works with the broader public, and disseminate information about programming events.
