Core 211info services: 211info addresses community determinants of health by linking consumers with the programs that promote health, resiliency and improved childhood outcomes in Oregon and southwest Washington: food, shelter, affordable housing, parenting resources, health care, dental, mental health, crisis services, foreclosure prevention programs, employment, legal aid, school readiness, clothing, maternal and child health, and related programs. 211info provides a detailed, updated and unbiased database of records from 3,000 health and social service organizations, including nonprofit, government and faith-based assistance. For consumers, the service is free, confidential and live, with a team of certified community information specialists providing referrals, collecting demographic data and asking "the second question," which may lead people to a program they didn't realize was available. For instance, someone seeking help with their electric bill may not realize they may qualify for job training. 211info's services are provided by telephone, text, email, website and mobile app, and partner agencies' programs and events are publicized through social media. Outreach staff and community information specialists help to educate clients and partner agencies about the network of services available in their communities. Data analytics help community leaders assess social service needs, demographic patterns and site-specific trends.
