Determine if an organization can afford your products or services

View vendor contract amounts and fee-for-service expense fields to determine if your inbound opportunities are the right fit for your company

In this help article...

It's great to receive an inbound opportunity for your company, but not all of them are going to be the right fit to grow your business. One key factor in qualifying your inbound opportunities is understanding if an organization has the budget to procure your products or services. That's where Cause IQ can help. Our customers use:

  • The vendors section on an organization's profile page to see which vendors they use and how much they pay them;
  • The financials section on an organization's profile page to view how much they spend in specific areas; and
  • The table tool to see relevant fee-for-service expenses for multiple organizations at once.

See what an organization spends on service providers

The "Vendors" tab on an organization's profile page is the place to go to quickly view which service providers an organization uses and how much they spend on them. After Cause IQ customers receive an inbound opportunity, many access the organization's "Vendors" tab to examine what they spend on specific service providers operating in the same industry as them. Within the "Vendors" tab, the following information is available:

  • Name of the vendor
  • Service the vendor provides the organization
  • Amount the organization paid the vendor (if available)
  • Most recent date of when Cause IQ confirmed the organization using the vendor

Here's a look at the vendors section on an organization's profile page:

A given organization won't have the amount paid information available for all the vendors they use. Cause IQ will have the amount paid field for the five highest compensated independent contractors that receive more than $100,000 from the organization, and the amounts paid for certain Form 5500 vendors. Even if the amount paid field isn't available, knowing the vendors an organization uses can still help you decide if they have the budget for your products or services. For example, if you're a medium-size accounting firm that provides tax and audit services to organizations, and you see that an inbound opportunity uses a firm of a similar size, you can use that information to determine that the organization more than likely can afford your services.

To access the vendors section for an inbound opportunity:

  1. Search for the specific organization
  2. From the search interface, click on their name to access their profile page
  3. Click on the "Vendors" tab

View an organization's fee-for-service expenses

The "Financials" tab on an organization's profile page allows you to examine their fee-for-service expenses, so you can understand how much they spend in different service industries (e.g., accounting, legal, information technology). Understanding how much your inbound opportunities spend in your service industry can be helpful in deciding if they can afford you. In addition to the most recent fee-for-service expense value, Cause IQ provides the value from the previous year and the year-over-year growth.

View relevant fee-for-service expense fields for multiple organizations

Cause IQ's table tool lets you view and compare relevant information for multiple organizations at once. Many Cause IQ customers use the table tool to examine fee-for-service expenses for multiple inbound opportunities and also compare which vendors the organizations are using. Here are the general steps:

  • Step 1

Create a list of your inbound opportunities

Search for specific organizations and manually add them to a peer list, or create a list using the CSV upload tool.

Please note that the CSV upload tool requires a Pro or Enterprise subscription, or a legacy usage-based subscription with the Data Enrichment Add-on.

  • Step 2

Open your list in the search interface

From your Dashboard, go to the "Lists" section on the left and select "Manual" or "Uploaded from CSV" as appropriate. Find the name of the list that contains the desired inbound opportunities, and click "Open in search interface".

Cause IQ opens the search interface with the list as the only filter.

  • Step 3

    Access the table tool

Click on the "Table" tab to access Cause IQ's table tool.

  • Step 4

Add relevant fee-for-service expenses as column headers

Choose appropriate fee-for-service expense fields so you can view how much the organizations spend in specific service industries. You can add fields for which vendors or products the organizations are using, such as the IT products usedTax preparer firm, and All vendors and service providers fields (among others).

You can also sort the organizations by specific expenses (smallest to largest, or vice-versa) by clicking on the column headers.
