Cause IQ's "Common Characteristics" tool automatically finds characteristics that a list of organizations share with each other and shows you how strongly these characteristics predict an organization being in the list. Once the common quantitative and qualitative characteristics are identified, you can tell Cause IQ to run a search to find other organizations that share the similar qualities. Cause IQ customers use the tool to view the common fields and values that relevant organizations share and to identify new prospects to grow their business. Here are the steps to use the tool:
Search for relevant organizations and manually add them to a list, create a list with the CSV upload tool, or track your exports to create a list in Cause IQ.
To use the "Common Characteristics" tool, please note that your list must contain between 5 and 500 organizations.
The CSV upload tool is part of Cause IQ's Data Enrichment Add-on. If you're interested in adding the tool to your subscription, please contact the Cause IQ team from the orange chat widget on the bottom-right of the screen.
From your Cause IQ Dashboard, click "Lists" on the left and select "Manual", "Uploaded from CSV", or "Tracked exports" as fitting. Find the appropriate list's name and click "Find common characteristics" at the bottom of their profile.
This opens the "Common Characteristics" tool, and Cause IQ automatically begins finding the fields that are common amongst the organizations in the list.
Once the analysis is done, the result page will automatically load and display the common fields. From there you'll see the common fields' "Value" and their "Impact". The "Impact" is measured between 0 and 1 and is calculated based on how much a given field affects the results of the search query. A higher "Impact" score will narrow down the results more than a lower one.
The system preselects all the identified common fields. Within the results page, you can deselect all/some of the fields and choose to "Preview results" at the bottom right of the page. The preview will indicate the number of matching organizations for the selected fields. Please note that only the selected common fields will affect the search results.
Select "Create new search query" at the bottom right of the screen, and Cause IQ opens the search interface with the corresponding filters of the selected common fields. From there you can:
