Regulatory PDF reports

Download a one-page report of an organization's regulatory information

Cause IQ's Regulatory PDF brings key organization and regulatory details together in a one-page report. Grantmaking foundations can use it to document information needed to evaluate a nonprofit grantee, while firms serving nonprofits can use it to review IRS status and other compliance-related information as part of their client work. The report can also be saved to an organization or client file and shared with colleagues and other decision makers.

To download an organization's Regulatory PDF, open its Cause IQ profile page, click the "Download" button in the upper-right of the screen, and select "Regulatory PDF" from the dropdown menu.

  • General: The organization's NTEE and NAICS codes, website URL, and 509(a) classification.
  • Business Master File (BMF): The organization's BMF name and address, foundation code, state of incorporation, ruling year, group status, and source dates.
  • Publication 78: Shows whether the organization is listed as eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions, along with its deductibility status, Publication 78 name, and source dates.
  • Form 990: The organization's most recent Form 990 type, fiscal year, date received by the IRS, and Schedule A, Part I classification. It also provides indicators of a recently amended or initial return, recent address or governance changes, diversions of assets, and termination.
  • California AB-488: Shows whether the organization may operate or solicit charitable contributions in California, including its charity registry and Franchise Tax Board (FTB) statuses, registration IDs, and relevant dates.

Available information varies by organization. Cause IQ checks for BMF and Publication 78 updates monthly, and new Form 990 and California AB-488 information weekly. Where applicable, the report shows source dates and the date Cause IQ last checked the information for updates.
