Program areas at Iroquois Healthcare Association
Administer the work force improvement program. Provide workforce development and recruitment programs for long term care providers. In october 2017, the Association, along with ten other organizations were notified that they had been approved and designated as long term care workforce investment organizations ("wio") by the new york state department of health to provide diverse workforce training, recruitment, and retention initiatives, including those specific to community and facility based long term care in various regions of new york state. This program was authorized in new york state's medicaid redesign team 1115 waiver through the mrt waiver amendment and is funded by the new york state department of health to wio's through managed longterm care organizations. The Association entered into agreements with long term care managed care organizations ("mco") to provide the funding necessary to operate the program for the benefit of the mco's long term care providers.
Seek out, foster, develop, coordinate and direct cooperative activities, joint central services and programs of a mutually beneficial nature among members consisting of hospitals and health care facilities. Includes educational workshops, seminars, surveys and communications.
Address critical workforce shortages for member organizations and create pathways to financial stability by providing scholarships to members to facilitate low-income, diverse candidates to become licensed or certified professionals in Healthcare. Expand virtual acute care training program for entry level essential workers in hospitals in upstate new york. Work with hospitals, home care agencies, and others to promote collaborative models of community medicine and paramedicine.
Hospital preparedness program including 1) health emergency preparedness coalition, 2) engage communities and health care systems, 3) strengthen surge management, and 4) critical asset survey content review.
