Program areas at CUGH

Cugh's largest programs are our annual conference (virtual for 2022 but normally in person), cdc fellowship training program, webinar series, leadership interview series, capacity building and advocacy annual conference and webinarsthe Cugh annual conference has become the world's leading academic Global Health conference. Since its inaugural meeting in 2008, the number of registered attendees has grown from 327 to more than 1,800. The meeting brings together committed leaders, professionals, educators, students from diverse fields of study including medicine, law, policy, natural sciences, nursing, public Health, and environmental studies to explore, collaborate and share how we can address the Global Health challenges before us.conference theme- healthy people, healthy planet, social justicefrom march 28th-april 1st, 2022, the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (Cugh) held its second virtual Global Health conference. The host institutions were stanford center for innovation in Global Health, university of California Global Health institute, african forum for research and education in Health, university of southern California institute on inequalities in Global Health, and brac school of public Health. Its theme was 'healthy people, healthy planet, social justice.' 587 posters were shown and 1550 people registered for the meeting. In addition, between march 21st-25th, Cugh hosted 27 free satellite sessions on a broad range of contemporary Global Health challenges. Over 4,950 people registered for the satellite sessions, and if you include the conference, individuals from over 135 countries participated in the meetings. Attendees shared knowledge, identified new collaborators, and heard cutting-edge information on how to address some of the big challenges we are facing.cdc project- project year end was august 14th, 2021 (continued august 15th, 2021-august 14th, 2022)the phi/cdc Global Health fellowship program (phi/cdc), implemented by the public Health institute (phi), assists the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc) in strengthening the Global public Health workforce. In collaboration with the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (Cugh), the world's largest Consortium of academic institutions, phi/cdc is working to develop and implement a Global Health fellowship program for students, graduates, and emerging public Health professionals. This fellowship emphasizes in strengthening capacities in epidemiology, hiv prevention, monitoring and evaluation, strategic information, program management and surveillance. Through other prominent Global Health fellowships, phi has established a reputation for developing and implementing high quality programs that provide a meaningful experience to their participants. During its third year under phi management, phi aims to support the cdc in its mission to create a cohort of talented public Health professionals to contribute to accomplishing the agencies' work and goals.the university liaison program officer, roara michael, currently replaced by the temporary university liaison program officer, abdullahi farah abdigaani, reports directly to the Cugh deputy director and participates in regular program team meetings and events with the program manager, administrative and communications assistant (aca), and recruitment and fellowship support coordinator (rfsc) to accomplish outreach and professional development activities.timeline: program year 5 for this project is scheduled within the timeline of august 15th, 2021, to august 14th, 2022.cugh's annual webinar series and leadership interviews Cugh has for years run webinars. Experts from around the world and across disciplines share how we can address an array of contemporary challenges. These are shared worldwide with Cugh's 38,000+ person network. Cugh also runs a Global Health leader interview series where leaders from different Global organizations are interviewed and share their views on contemporary Global challenges. The link to the 2022 interview series is httpswwwcughorgourworkeventspastc... buildingwith resources from nih, Cugh revamped its online capacity strengthening site that will enable institutions in low- and middle-income nations to share their training needs and attract the trainers and educational products they need. This includes a mentorship program and functions that help to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the site. Www.cughcapacitybuilding.org. The purpose of the site is to help address massive gaps in skilled workers across Health and sustainable development areas that lic nations are faced with.
