Program areas at Goodwill of the Great Plains

Retail program servicesgoodwill utilizes its twenty-one retail stores, two e-commerce locations and one outlet store to provide on-the-job training to people with disabilities, people with disadvantages and others having a hard time finding employment. Goodwill accepts clothing and other household donated goods from the public and sells these donations in community-based retail stores. Revenue from the sales of these goods goes directly toward supporting and growing critical community-based programs and workforce development services.
Contracts community basedgoodshred invests in the community by offering secure document destruction and hard drive destruction, recycling thousands of pounds of paper and electronics each year to keep it out of landfills. the average collection container diverts 200 pounds of paper from landfills and provides two hours of job coaching for individuals in Goodwill programs. Located in sioux falls, sd, goodshred serves all of south dakota and portions of Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
Workforce development program servicesindividuals achieve greater levels of self-sufficiency and economic success through Goodwill's workforce development services - such as employment training and education, work experience, pre-employment training, employment retention services, high school work training programs, wioa title i services and job center services. Workforce development programs and services were provided to 8,654 individuals in 2022. Goodwill serves individuals through intensive case managed workforce development programs, which utilize Goodwill retail stores, administrative offices, and e-commerce operations for paid on-the-job training, along with community based on-the-job training with local employers. Job center services are in four locations and offer free employment resources such as resume development, job search, mock interviews, application assistance, computer training, and job fairs.intensive services were provided to 2,320 individuals in 2022. These services encompass educational and career services with a program manager or direct service worker assigned to each participant with services delivered over an extended period of time. Maintenance and enhancement of skills or independent functioning level, or maintenance of employment is the expected result of programs and services in this category.case managed placement focused services were provided to 350 individuals in 2022. These services have an expected outcome of job placement through job development and direct job placement programs, as well as temporary placement services and pre-placement phases of supported employment services. A program manager or direct service worker is assigned to each individual participating in placement focused programs and services.integrated day servicesgoodwill integrated day services provides day habilitation and adult day programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, brain injuries, and those with alzheimer's disease or dementia. Day habilitation program focuses on daily living skills, goal setting, socialization, and community integration. Adult day program provides a safe, participant-choice, and fun atmosphere to assist adults in maintaining their current skill levels which enables them to remain in their home environment. Integrated day services provided programming and care to 76 adults in 2022 at our center located in sioux city, Iowa.
Other areas of significant mission work include but are not limited to christmas shoe and mitten parties which served 2,810 underprivileged, elementary-aged children in 2022 and were held in 16 locations throughout our four-state region. 2,686 store vouchers were distributed by our 21 stores to individuals and families in need to purchase daily necessities such as wares and clothing through Goodwill's voucher assistance program in an effort provide them a "hand-up".all told, our organization served a total of 30,685 individuals in 2022 throughout our territory. of that total, 444 individuals were placed into community jobs through our mission services, and 1,023 veterans were served through our boots to suits and veteran stand down programs with new coats, boots, and supplies to better equip them through the winter months.
