Coastal Conservation Lake Superior CC LS: A Grant was contribute to another Nonprofit 501c3 targeted to help acquire keystone properties within several Coastal Conservation Areas on Lake Superior. The natural lands protected lie on the coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula an area that is nationally known to ornithologists especially for nesting wood warblers and large numbers of migrating birds songbirds raptors ducks geese and shorebirds. The lands along the lakeshore are the most threatened by development and all grants funds were designated for new acquisitions that linked to already protected natural areas thereby creating landscape level protection including continuous corridors of native habitat for birds and other wildlife.
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Grant NFWF G: 2021 was the first year of field work for National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Grant #71204 Least Bell's Vireo Range Expansion Surveys on BLM Lands in the Mohave Desert and the Central Valley CA. Focused Least Bell's Vireo Vireo bellii pusillus Vireo LBVI surveys were conducted in native willow-dominated riparian habitat on California Bureau of Land Management BLM lands in the Mohave Desert and in the Central Valley in the spring of 2021. The Grant builds upon work conducted in 2019 and 2020 and will continue into 2022 spring field work and 2023 reporting. $35 in bank fees were incurred during set up of the ASMAR checking account for grantee funds
Northern Cardinal Sanctuary NOCA S: The Northern Cardinal Sanctuary was acquired in Ahmeek MI Keweenaw County comprising 6 acres of Boreal Hardwood Transition Forest and a known nesting area of the Cardinals a rare bird in the Keweenaw Peninsula. $35,148 was the acquisition cost including closing costs.
